Poster fold
Lost Minds
Drawing inspiration from the music festival LOST MINDS, a design was developed reflecting the event's mood. The poster fold project represents a deliberate application of hierarchal organization and dynamic movement serving as the foundational principles throughout the design. Hierarchy is displayed in an intriguing and balanced manner that facilitates the clear deciphering of information to the viewer. Each element guides the audience through the information in a way that ensures engagement. Movement is portrayed through the integration of block and text gradients across the design, evoking the rhythmic energy with the depicted music genres. The consistent design elements maintained between the front and back of the posters are essential in reinforcing the project's visual narrative, enhancing its effectiveness and impact.
Maintaining connectivity between the front and back of the poster was crucial to the design narrative. The selection of the festival LOST MINDS offered a lot of potential with the creative exploration. The objective was to convey the festival's name clearly while injecting ambiguity into the text. This was achieved by rendering the “O” as a black hole, while the surrounding text is seemingly being pulled into its depths. This approach aimed to intrigue viewers while still retaining legibility. Furthermore, the incorporation of block blended gradients emphasizes the genre of electronic and hardstyle music, showcasing the dynamic movement and bass one would experience at the event. Through their thickness, these blended gradients add depth and vibrancy to the design, aligning with the festival's energetic atmosphere.
The Design Process
Designing the Front
When designing the front cover, the interaction between the block gradients and the text was crucial in conveying the feeling of being “lost” while maintaining legibility in the text. Transitioning from vertical gradients coming individually from each letter and then pivoting to have the gradients pulled into the “O” effectively highlighted the music festival’s aesthetic. This adjustment enhanced the visual impact and better encapsulated the festival's mood.
designing the back
The influence the front cover had on the back layout design was significant, aiming for consistency in style across the poster. Heavy gradients from the front are integrated throughout the back, enhancing visual continuity. This maintains clear connections to the front cover text and layout, ensuring coherence. Additionally, the neon text design is shown in the text hierarchies solidifying the connections between the covers. These intentional designs reinforce the unified approach to the project.
